The Journey from Overwhelmed to Aligned: How I Built Wickedly Branded™

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when you step into who you’re meant to be. It’s not always a fairy tale. It’s messy. It’s chaotic. But it’s in that messy middle, those moments where everything feels like it’s unraveling, that the real magic begins to take shape.

When I first started my business, I was overwhelmed, overworked, and burned out, trying to keep up with everything, saying “yes” to every opportunity, and struggling to make sense of my own vision. But as I moved through the storm, I began to find my clarity. I started to see my true potential, not just as a business owner but as a person. In 2025, when I rebranded from BC & Associates Marketing to Wickedly Branded™, it was more than a name change. It was the moment I truly stepped into my magic. And now, I want to help you do the same.

December 2011: The Leap into the Unknown

It was a big decision to leave the corporate world behind and dive into freelancing. I had worked as a director of marketing for a startup, helping it grow from $1 million to $10 million in sales. I loved my job, but when I married my active-duty military husband, my world shifted. The constant moves meant that corporate stability and career growth would no longer be possible.

So, in December 2011, I started my own business. At first, I thought it would be temporary, just a way to make a living while traveling. I never saw myself as an entrepreneur. But as time passed, something changed. The business took on a life of its own, and I was hooked, even though I had no idea what I was getting into.

2014–2017: The Fostering Journey & A Personal Revolution

In 2014, my husband and I opened our hearts to fostering children. We navigated the emotional ups and downs of that journey, and in 2015, after a failed adoption, we welcomed a two-day-old baby into our home. By 2017, he was legally adopted into our family, forever changing the course of our lives. It was a beautiful time of growth, but also a challenging one.

I had to juggle my business with the emotional rollercoaster of parenting. At the same time, I was dealing with a serious hip injury in 2015. After hip surgery, I spent the next year learning how to walk again. For the first time in my life, I was forced to slow down. But it wasn’t just my body that needed healing, it was my business too. I had been pushing too hard, running on empty, and losing my sense of clarity.

2020: Incorporating a Team, Facing a Pandemic, and Day-by-Day Survival

Incorporating the business in 2020 felt like a new chapter. I finally had a small team that could help me take the business to the next level. But then, like so many others, the world was thrown into chaos. COVID-19 hit, and for the next couple of years, we took everything one day at a time.

I thought I was prepared, but the fog of the pandemic clouded everything. We struggled with the unpredictability, but one thing remained clear: my team and I needed to adjust to the new normal. It wasn’t business as usual. And frankly, I wasn’t sure if my business had the capacity to thrive in such uncertainty.

2023: The Start of the Shift

Once the fog lifted in 2023, something shifted within me. I realized that I had spent years just reacting to what was in front of me. I had spent so much time managing crises and putting out fires that I hadn’t been able to look ahead. But now, I was ready to step into my next phase. I was ready to embrace growth, not just for my business, but for myself.

2023 marked the beginning of that shift: I started to lean into my own vision. I began working on being more intentional with my time, my energy, and my purpose. It wasn’t just about business anymore. It was about creating a life and a business that were aligned with who I truly was. I began to see the clarity and confidence I had always craved.

November 2024: Writing the “Wicked Elphaba” Blog Post

In November 2024, I wrote a blog post that became a defining moment for me. It was inspired by Elphaba from Wicked, the misunderstood, strong-willed character who says, “I’m not that girl.” In the post, I took ownership of my magic. I let go of the idea of perfection and embraced my authenticity. That post became the turning point. It was the moment I fully stepped into my role as the Fairy Godmother of Clarity, a branding and marketing strategist who helps others step into their true selves.

By March 2025, I was ready to fully embrace the evolution of my business. After years of pushing through the tough seasons, I rebranded my business from BC & Associates Marketing to Wickedly Branded™. This wasn’t just a name change; it was a declaration of my commitment to authenticity, clarity, and heart-centered branding.

Rebranding wasn’t easy. But it was necessary. My business, my team, and my mission were all aligned with my deeper purpose. I was no longer just a marketing expert. I was a branding and marketing therapist, helping entrepreneurs reclaim their confidence, find their clarity, and amplify their magic.

The Messy Middle: Where the Magic Happens

The messy middle of my journey wasn’t easy, but it was where all the growth happened. It was the space where I learned to let go of perfection, embrace my unique voice, and build a business that felt truly aligned with who I am. It was the space where I finally found the courage to be visible, to share my journey, and to be real with my audience.

And that’s what I want for you. I want you to feel confident in who you are and where you’re going. I want you to understand that the messy middle isn’t a setback, it’s the space where your magic is cultivated.

Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future

As I look ahead to the future, I see endless possibilities. My business is no longer just about me. It’s about the impact we make in the world, the transformations we create, and the legacy we leave. I want to empower more female founders to step into their magic, to own their voices, and to build businesses that are aligned with their purpose.

My journey has been messy, but it has been worth every moment. I’ve learned that the most important thing in business is not the hustle. It’s clarity. It’s trust. It’s staying aligned with your purpose and helping others do the same.

I’ve gone from feeling lost and overwhelmed to finding my way and helping others find theirs. I’ve gone from fearing my imperfections to embracing them as part of my magic. And now, I want to help you do the same.
